Jukebox the Ghost

As I continue on my piano-pop binge, I bring you Jukebox the Ghost. Firstly, their name is based off of some Nabakov book, so you know they're gonna be awesome. I've put up three songs:Hold It In, Good Day, and Under your Skin. These three songs (as with the rest of the album) are built upon the piano, and it really gives it a good jive. I think Spin described it the best when they said, "Jukebox The Ghost is a refreshing reminder that the lighthearted electricity of a fantastic pop song is still filled with live wires."

Bryan Scary and the Shredding Tears

So I dunno why, but lately I've been grooving to the indie piano-pop. I came across this little band accidentally a few days ago, and have had an uncontrollable urge to rock out on the piano ever since. If you ask me, it seriously reminds me of Queen. While the music itself isn't quite that scary, the fact that I could only post one song is. On the plus side, you visit their website, you can listen to EVERY track for free!

Fleet Foxes

I recall the first time listening to Fleet Foxes, I stopped breathing. This is not simply an update of rural folk from the 20th century, no no, this is REAL folk. With such peaceful vocals, it's difficult to stop listening to each track from beginning to end. I dare you to ignore the rich melodies, billowing clouds of organs, bells, and stringed instruments that mold this band.

Hey everyone, Rosh is still running things under the cover, making new countries, and islands and what not, so i'm running the show for a while n' see how it goes. I hope you all like my taste, I think it's rather awesome. So let me start out with 2 songs. The first a song I've grown to love, by Peter Bjorn and John, very chill, and something that's good for the soul. It's called young folks, and most of you have probably heard it, but I thought I'd put it in anyway. Secondly, I added a song that I recently discovered by Sharam, a pretty good dj, and after hearing his remix of Daniel Bedingfield's - If you're not the one, I was bursting with joy. If you love dance, or even house, you'll like this one.

The Last Shadow Puppets

Yeah, I realize I'm kind of a douchenozzle, I mentioned The Last Shadow Puppets without mentioning who they are! One of the most brilliant bands out there! Ever hear of a a li'l someone called Alex Turner, lead singer of the Arctic Monkeys? Yeah, well, now he's out there with this bad (who might I add is incredible). They're looking to record some new material in 2009, but for now, I'll give you some of there sheer awesomeness. As an added bonus, I think I'm gonna toss in a quick video (since I couldn't find a link to the mp3)...yeah, I know I'm a failure at life.

New Albums Baby!

Wow, don't I feel like a dickface. I haven't posted on here in like FOREVER! I feel like now that Bones has finally signed on here (and possibly Afro), we might actually be able to get this bad boy up and running like a proper music blog! So what have I got for you today, you may ask? Well, I decided to give you a li'l news on the music front, see what's going on.

Firstly, as it turns out, Arctic Monkeys are putting out a new album! It should be finished up by the end of this month. If you ask me, Matt Helder is a bloody genius. Not only has he put out an album for the Arctic Monkeys EVERY year since 2006, he's also dropped a Last of the Shadow Puppets album (which might I add, is INCREDIBLE).

The second song you should hear on this playlist is one by the Arcade Fire. Word on the street is that they're working on a new album. And by working, I mean, they're in the beginning stages, so possibly writing?

Finally, another band which is in the early stages of making a new album is an old favorite, THE GORILLAZ! I'm actually really pumped for this album, I'm a big fan of everything they've done, so I'm sure this album won't be any different. In the interest of posting something new for you, I decided to toss up a Hot Chip remix of Kids With Guns.

Lullaby Baxter!

Awwww, so cute! Lullaby Baxter's music gives off a feel of lying in a patch of grass at the park on a warm spring afternoon. I have no idea why I haven't posted this sooner. If Surfjan Stevens and Ella Fitzgerald had a child, Lullaby Baxter would be her. With beautifully choreographed jazz influenced pop songs, there's nothing not to love!

The Long Blondes

Wow, I am a terrible human being. I realize I haven't quite been keeping up with my posts here at the Boho Show, but I assure you that's all about to change. Seriously, this time I mean it. I'm thinking at least once a week, but possibly as often as once every two days, yeah? Anyways, this next installment is from The Long Blondes (which I've been meaning to post since last december). So right now I have the COMPLETE urge to go out clubbing. Unfortunately, it's a Thursday night, and I've got things to do. In order to satisfy this clubbin' urge though, I decided to mix myself a bangin' mix. Now, usually, you know my type of music. But every now and again, I need a li'l more generic bootilicious. So in honor of my clubbing mood, I put together a bangin' mix--I should TOTALLY be a DJ! I don't mean to toot my own horn here, but I can put a compilation together like no other. Enjoy!

Whoa. I saw this band last night, and holy bajesus. Their AMAZING light show aside, the music--part funk, part electronica--knocked my socks off. This music is so crazy, I can't decide whether it's something to relax to, or boogie down to. Actually, it's probably a little of both. I say take a listen for yourself and decide. Machine Go Boom

Machine Go Boom is one of those acquired tastes. I remember when I first heard Captain Obvious, I thought the band was alright. Nothing spectacular. But after singing it to Lauren HUNDREDS of times, I realized that this song was one of the catchiest ever! With the inspiring intro and killer chorus, this is definitely something you'll be jamming to for quite some time now.

The Postal Service

I was originally gonna make this post yet another dedication post, keeping it inline with all the others thus far. But then I realized that I can't dedicate this to just one person, because EVERYONE loves the Postal Service! Not to mention the fact that everyone's heard the Postal Service! So I came up with a new solution; create a compilation of everything I could find that's not the Postal Service/Ben Gibbard. This is basically his partner Jimmy Tamborello's projects, which include Figurine and Dntel, along with a little something from Rilo Kelly, who's lead singer (Jenny Lewis) did guest vocals. Tell me am I right to think that there could be nothing better?

Awesomeness aside, I've gotta dedicate this post to the FABULOUS Amy. One of my greatest friends since back in eighth grade. I went to visit her the other day and found out that she LOVED herself some All American Rejects. Well, I figure everyone else has heard that, so I put up some Paulson. They're both on doghouse records (along with another band I'll soon post). And, what can I say? I'm a sucker for synths. Having played keys for 12 solid years of my life has had its effect (despite the fact that I pretty much forgot how to play), I can recognize some fun tunes. This is definitely one of those. Paulson definitely pack's a punch, like if Maroon Five's new album was a li'l less ol' school disco and more new school rock. So Amy, this one is for you. If you've got an itchin' for some booty shakin', we've got your perscription right here.

Maritime

When I first heard Maritime, I fell in love. It's just that smooth indie pop/rock that gets me. But this stuff, whoo, let me tell you, not a single note is wasted. It's got everything you need for a solid song, perfect for the winding down of summertime. The first two tracks are off their last album, We are the Vehicles, and are a smidgen more downbeat. The next two are off their new album, a li'l more rockish with those loveable Maritime guitar chorus' and jolly vocals. Enjoy!

Fleckfumie

I can never fall asleep without the help of music. I remember back for my 10th birthday, the only thing I wanted was a diskman. Every night, I would play some 88.1 (it was a cd player AND fm radio!), the local jazz station. Unfortunately, Pennsylvania doesn't have the honor of such a great station, so I've had to settle for my mp3 player. Now that it's been up to me to discover my own bed time music, I've only settled for the best. Have a li'l listen to Fleckfumie and I promise you're eyelid's start to droop.

Mice Parade

Sitting back on a Sunday evening, the only thing I can imagine myself doing is listening to some Mice Parade. Their beautiful acoustic guitar skillfully combined with some (jazz) drumming makes a perfect combination. Can you hear that eastern influence? Perhaps a li'l afrobeat or two?
